Chamblee
is Atlanta 's new "old" neighborhood with a lot of history. It used
to be a dairy land. In 1917 Chamblee transformed into a military camp,
Camp Gordon stretched out for two square miles and its personnel consisted
of 40,000 people. Chamblee grew almost overnight with numerous new
stores, hotels and theatres. After World War II Chamblee welcomed
large corporations like Frito-Lay, General Electric and Kodak. The
city of Chamblee has been rediscovered and restored since. It is now
a great quiet, pedestrian neighborhood that is welcoming mixed use
developments with shops and restaurants on the ground level. Chamblee
is one of the very few tranquil places in Atlanta that's just minutes
away from all the attractions, shops, restaurants, theatres, two Marta
stations, Buckhead, Downtown Atlanta, major highways and two airports.
